New Facebook/T-Mobile VOIP Service: What Does it Mean for Law Enforcement?
Friday, April 22, 2011 at 9:55AM
Facebook and T-Mobile have announced a new VOIP product for users of Facebook called Bobsled. The new application allows FB users to place voice calls to all of their participating FB friends without fees. It seems like this is a great new service for the users of FB, but what are some of the implications from a law enforcement perspective?
A great deal of criminal investigations today have cellular communications as one of the components of the evidence that law enforcement uses to solve a case. If Facebook's 500 million plus users begin to connect directly instead of using their cell phones, the amount of data requests to FB for investigations is going to skyrocket.
If you have ever considered a career in subpoena compliance, now is the time to get started.
