So far, the rumor hasn't been officially confirmed, but several separate reports indicate that it's true. We should know more later today.
As many Droid users already know, Viewdle's apps include SocialCamera and games like ThirdEye. It also holds several facial recognition patents and is in the process of testing an iOS version of its Face Recognition SDK.
How might Google use Viewdle's technology? No one really knows at this point. Although, it is exciting to consider that it can be used for real-time facial recognition on Android to allow people in videos to be identified, as well as touch-free gesture recognition, so that users can operate mobile devices from a distance, such as while driving a car.
