MovieReshape: The Photoshop of Video

MovieReshape is going to do to video what Photoshop has done to images. The application, created by the Max Planck Institut informatik, enables the user to manipulate "the body shape and proportions of a human actor in arbitrary video footage" simply by changing the sliders in a control panel. 

Is your subject too short, too flabby, too flat-chested? MovieReshape can "fix" each problem almost disturbingly easily.

The technology works by identifying each actor using shape recognition. Then, it searches an extensive database of 3-D bodies and makes the closest possible match, depending on physique and position. After that, the user can change parameters and watch the software morph the actor's image -- in a very realistic way, in most cases. The video can then be rendered at any time, incorporating the smaller waist, broader chest or bigger bust.
