Ever wonder what the world's leading scientists think about Hollywood's most ridiculous science fiction films? Now, we know!
NASA has actually created a list of the most absurd and unlikely sci-fi movies ever created -- and a counter list of the most likely movie scenarios.
Topping the absurd list? Roland Emmerich's disaster of a disaster film, 2012. In fact, the film is so unlikely that NASA created a website dedicated to dispelling its myths and plotlines. (And it's a must-read.)
Here's the full list of the world's most absurd sci-fi movies, as voted by NASA:
- 2012 (2009)
- The Core (2003)
- Armageddon (1998)
- Volcano (1997)
- Chain Reaction (1996)
- The 6th Day (2000)
- What the #$*! Do We Know? (20040
And, interestingly, the list of the most likely:
- Gattaca (1997)
- Contact (1997)
- Metropolis (1927)
- The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)
- Woman in the Moon (1929)
- The Thing from Another World (1951)
- Jurassic Park (1993)
