The Sun, Britain’s most read newspaper, has teamed up with augmented-reality giant Aurasma to create a huge interactive poster of the London 2012 Games. The poster, when viewed with Aurasma's software, transforms into a 3-D model of the Olympic park. Using their smartphone or tablet, viewers can click to find out more information about the locations.
Dominic Mohan, Editor of The Sun, told InPublishing: “On the momentous day that the London 2012’s Games officially open, I’m thrilled that we’ve won gold by being the first to have an augmented reality poster.”
A nice tie-in would have been billboards and posters throughout London. Maybe advertisers and Olympic officials will have fully embraced AR by the time the next Games roll around.
