BP and the Army Corps of Engineers have green lighted the use of a device Kevin Costner invented that cleans oil from sea water.
Costner's $24 million centrifuge machine is called "Ocean Therapy."
Designed to be placed on a barge, it collects oily water, separates the oil from the water and releases only the water.
Costner told reporters he gave scientists millions of dollars to create the device after the 1989 Exxon Valdez spill.
Costner has 300 of these machines in various sizes, with the largest able to clean water at a rate of 200 gallons a minute, WDSU-TV reported.
