OLED Breakthrough Could Give Us Night-vision Features on Cell Phones, Glasses
Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at 1:15PM
Researchers at the University of Florida -- funded by DARPA -- have created a thin OLED film that converts infrared light into visible light. The technology could give cell phones, eyeglasses and car windshields cheap, lightweight night vision.
So far, the prototype only measures one square centimeter, but we may see the technology on a consumer product -- a car windshield or a cell phone -- within 18 months.
