Your next smartphone or tablet may soon come with a self-repair coating for the touchscreen.
Japanese thin-film maker Toray Advanced Film, the same company that developed revolutionary fingerprint-resistant films, will be mass producing a self-repair coating called Self-cure Coat Film. Manufacturers will be able to apply the film onto devices before they are sold to customers. Scratches disappear in approximately 10 seconds at room temperature.
In one demonstration, a smartphone screen coated with the film was scratched with a wire brush. The scratch disappeared and the screen returned to it's original shiny condition.
