Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 8:44AM
Designed by USC, Bandit is a socially assistive robot designed to elicit natural behavior from children with Autism Spectrum Disorders through free-form play.
According to the research paper titled "Development of Socially Assistive Robots for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders," children with ASD interact with robots differently than with people or toys and may show intrinsic interest in such robots, which can help increase physical contact, smiling and eye-gaze behavior.
