Hal Lasko, "The Pixel Painter," lost most of his eyesight eight years ago, but that didn't affect his desire to paint. Now, Lasko uses Microsoft Paint to create incredible works of art that are staggeringly complex and surprisingly beautiful.
According to Lasko's website, he still uses a version of MS Paint that was released 15 years ago, because it allows him to zoom in on each pixel. The resulting art is a lot like pointillism -- or, its digital cousin.
Check out his incredible work and heartwarming story in the video above.
Although airport full-body scanners were unpopluar at best, many will approve of its new use: detecting drawings or images underneath great works of art.
Using airport scanning technology (terahertz radiation), scientists have uncovered a fresco of a face of an ancient Roman man painted underneath the "Trois hommes armés de lances" in the Louvre Museum in Paris. Art historians believe the drawing is thousands of years old.
I can't quite tell you why this video gave me chills. After all, "Zwischenräume" is an art project -- not some incidious robotics experiment.
But still: There's something exceedingly creepy about a robot that hides within a wall, punches through whenever it wants and inspects what's on the other side.
According to the artist, "the installation embeds a group of autonomous robots into the walls of a gallery. They punch holes through the walls to inspect what’s outside, signal each other and conspire ... as if the walls had ears and a hammer to pierce holes for their eyes to see."
Ok, now it's even creepier.
DNA 11 has cornered the market of truly unique, customized art.
The company uses genetic science to create personalized art for its clients. That's right: Your DNA determines the image. Talk about art imitating life.
The incredible images require a little effort on your part: For a DNA Portrait, DNA 11 sends you a DNA sample collection kit, and you swab some cells from the inside of your cheek.
Not a fan of genetic science art? The company also creates Fingerprint Portraits and Kiss Portraits for those of you who want to show off your other unique traits.
