App Transforms Ads Into Art

Tired of seeing ads everywhere you go?
Soon enough, you can download an interesting new app from the anti-advertising group Public Ad Campaign. The augmented-reality tool uses your iPhone or tablet to replace ads in public spaces with works of art. (Check out the video to see Times Square transformed.)
Open the app on your device, and the camera enables it to display a live view of your surroundings. Point it at a billboard or poster, and the app will replace each ad with a piece of art, created specially for the app, in real time.
According to the Public Ad Campaign, the Augmented Reality technology used in this app will be used to create several more projects geared toward public use.
It's an interesting idea, but who wants to walk around New York City with their eyes glued to their iPhone? Oh wait ...
