Sync Your Phone to Your PC, Using Only Its Camera
Monday, June 27, 2011 at 9:20AM
Researchers at MIT are developing a way to automatically synchronize a smartphone to a PC, using computer vision software.
This capability would open up a whole realm of possibilities. And consider how simple it will be: While running an application on your PC, simply take a photo of your computer screen with a smartphone. The phone will automatically open the application in the corresponding state.
Called Deep Shot, the software works because many Web applications use a standard format called a uniform resource identifier. The computer vision algorithms identify the application, and the computer's software transmits the corresponding URI.
