What does 3VR stand for anyway? (ISC West Live)

In all the marketing fanfare around 3VR’s launch event at ISC West only one mystery remains...What exactly does 3VR stand for?  Some have claimed that 3VR stands for nothing at all…sort of a nice-sounding nonsense name like ABC Corp, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth.

It turns out that 3VR actually has not one, but TWO, accepted meanings: 

• 3VR stands for “3^rd Generation Video Recorder.”  The idea is that tape-based analog recorders were the first generation.  Networked and digital recorders are the 2^nd Generation, and the 3^rd Generation are “Intelligent” and “Searchable” video recorders.  

• 3VR also stands for the names of its founders.   3VR was founded by three individuals, Stephen Russell, Tim Ross, and Bob Vallone.  THREE FOUNDERS all with the INITIALS V OR R.   What a coincidence?  THREE …V…R.  3VR.
