Augmented Reality App Gives You a Peek Beneath Models’ Clothing
Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 1:12PM Moosejaw X-Ray App from Gary Wohlfeill on Vimeo.
File this under bizarre yet ingenious ways to titillate consumers: Clothing retailer Moosejaw is encouraging shoppers to download an X-ray augmented reality app that will allow them to see what’s underneath their models’ winter clothes.
Using your smartphone’s or tablet’s camera, the augmented reality app syncs with Moosejaw’s winter clothing catalog to give you some spicy views of both the male and female models. All you have to do is download the app, get your hands on the catalog (or visit the online version) and position your device over the pages.
Sure, the idea is clever and sort of cute. But only a limited number of brands will probably be able to "get away with" this type of marketing, so it's unlikely to catch on in a big way. But maybe one day we'll see a augmented reality version of Playboy. Techie dudes can only dream.
