Digital High-speed Cameras Provide Ultra-slow-motion Coverage at the World Cup

There's nothing like watching the U.S. team score a goal at the World Cup, and watching the replay in slow motion allows us to re-live every second of that moment.

Thirteen Phantom digital high-speed cameras, from Vision Research, are providing the exclusive ultra-slow motion coverage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The cameras also were used at the Olympics, Super Bowl and World Series.

"Ultra-slow motion is about conveying emotion and leaving viewers at home with a lasting impact that will have them talking about an event or play that was merely a few seconds long, for weeks or even years to come,” said Rick Robinson, divisional vice president of marketing.

The eight Phantom v640s and five Phantom HDs feature a maximum resolution of 2560x1600 and 2048x2048, respectively. When used at full-HD resolution, the Phantom v640 can record at speeds of 2,700 fps, and the Phantom HD can record at speeds up to 1,000 fps.
