DIY: Create an iPhone-controlled Coilgun

Attention, gamers!

Two University of Arkansas students have built a iPhone-controlled optically triggered four-stage coilgun.

The coilgun can be controlled with an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, which connects to the coilgun using Wi-Fi and a Wi-Fi hub. The coilgun can turn or move up and down on a wooden turret and fires using an Arduino microcontroller. It also uses a PlayStation Eye webcam to aim.
