Facial Recognition Changes the Face of VIP Treatment
Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 12:54PM
The Aria Resort and Casino, part of MGM's new City Center complex on the Las Vegas Strip, is one of the most technologically advanced hotels ever built. Besides offering advanced security, the hotel’s impressive surveillance system also provides additional perks for hotel guests.
Facial recognition software identifies who’s coming and going, and Aria’s smartphone network keeps tabs on each hotel guest (and can even send them special features depending on their interests and current location). The result gives new meaning to “VIP treatment.” For example, guests with an Aria Player’s Club Card will never have to suffer through long lines at the club. A concierge will scan for VIPs’ faces and phones before escorting them in ahead of the crowd.
Looks like I have my hotel for ISC West 2011 picked out.
